An Oral Alternative to Intravenous Therapy

Cheletex is a tablet formulated for increased absorption of EDTA designed as an oral alternative to intravenous therapy. Chelation utilized a man made amino acid called Tthylene-Diamine-Tettraacetic-Acid (EDTA), developed during the late 1940's, to remove lead and other dangerous toxic metals from the body. The word chelation (key-LAY-shun) is derived from the Greek word "Chele" meaning claw. Like a claw, EDTA binds tightly to free-floating metal ions in the bloodstream and then forms a chemical bond that facilitates the removal of these complexes before they interfere with normal metabolism or enter into any undesirable chemical reactions.

Proven Cardiovascular Benefits of Oral Chelation

In the 1950's, doctors using EDTA Chelation to treat patients with lead poisoning noticed the significant benefits to cardiovascular health. Dr. Norman Clarke noted that after several chelation treatments, one patient experienced complete relief of cardiovascular discomfort. Between the years of 1956 and 1960, Dr. Clarke's patients showed an impressive 87% improvement in cardiovascular health following a series of oral chelation regimens. A recent study indicated that EDTA treatment of lead poisoning reduced blood lead levels. It was later theorized that as EDTA removes unwanted toxic metals it simultaneously helps to loosen and remove abnormalaly located mineral depostis, such as calcium from arterial plaque. It is important to realize that some essential nutrients, such as calcium, iron and copper can become abonormally arranged when they are exposed to oxygen, and stimulate free radical damage in arterial cells. As these complexes gradually accumulate with cholesterol they can contribute to plaque build up in the artery wall.

Chelation, using EDTA, has shown the unique ability to bind to many of the minerals involved in free radical pathology. In the early 1980's, 2,870 patients at the Clinica Tuffik Mattar in Sao Paulo, Brazil were treated with EDTA chelation. The results were impressive with 89% of all treated patients showing marked or good improvement in cardiovascular health. Also in the early 1980's, Dr. Richard Casdorph, then Chief of Medicine at Long Beach Community Hospital and assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of California Irvine, observed similar results in patients with cardiovascular concerns and reduced cerebral blood flow. All of the patients in his studies showed significant clinical improvement in cardiovascular health as well as enhanced blood flow.

Safety of EDTA

To date, EDTA remains a safe and effective chelating agent for the removal of abnormally located minerals and unwanted toxic metals. EDTA is FDA approved and is widely used by the food packaging industry to perserve flavor and help delay spoilage and rancidity. Oral EDTA is considered to be GRAS (generally recognized as safe) and is widely used as an additive in food products and nutritional supplements. EDTA has been used for nearly a century to prevent the plaque or calcium build-up that causes staining and other problems in the materials industry (a similar depostion of unwanted calcification occurs in the mouth and in our arteries and is also referred to as plaque). however, because EDTA is a nonspecific chelator, it can also remove certain essential minerals from the body. Therefore, it may be advisable to supplement in addition to Oral Chelation Therapy with a good multi-vitamin and mineral supplement (taken at least 2 hours away from taking EDTA supplement), containing ample amounts of zinc, potassium, magnesium and calcium.

Advantages of Cheletex - An Innovative Formula

Many studies suggest that oral EDTA is an effective chlelator for removing toxic minerals from the body. According to some doctors, the absorption and effectiveness of one months' consumption of a potent oral chelation product produces effects similar to one three hour intravenous chelation session. In addition, an oral product such as Cheletex with an tablet formula for increased absorption of EDTA is more cost effective for patients who do not have the means to afford intravenous treatment.
